Headcanon for Peridot's inevitable redemption arc:

Yellow Diamond abandons Peridot on Earth after Peri shows too much emotion.  Steven intervenes, they drive away YD, Peri's still abandoned on Earth.  Peridot either joins the Crystal Gems (unlikely) or just remains some sort of neutral party who likes to annoy the Gems in her spare time and hang out with Steven and wonder how he does things like eat or sleep or other human things.  The end.

And somewhere in there, Peridot gets her little butt handed to her on a silver platter and she cries a lot.  :3c
